Sustainability Policy

Aquatika – Freshwater Aquarium Karlovac is a public institution dedicated to the protection of freshwater ecosystems, public education, and the interpretation of the natural heritage of Croatian rivers and lakes. Sustainability is a core principle of our work and an integral part of all our programmes and decisions.

In our daily operations, we promote the protection of freshwater ecosystems, responsible use of natural resources, education and public awareness, and active engagement of the local community. Particular attention is given to the rational use of energy and water, waste reduction, and the welfare of living organisms within our aquarium systems.

Aquatika develops inclusive educational programmes for all age groups and cooperates with schools, scientific institutions, partners, and local stakeholders, encouraging responsible attitudes towards rivers and the environment.

Sustainability principles are integrated into the governance of the institution, strategic planning, and project implementation, ensuring transparent and responsible management of public resources.

For Aquatika, sustainability is not an additional obligation, but a way of thinking that shapes our everyday work – for the benefit of rivers, communities, and future generations.
